Terms of service

These terms apply when you subscribe or buy a gift. Nothing in them limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

Who you are buying from

What you get

One issue a month: three A6 postcards and a letter, in an envelope. The photographs are shot on film on the New South Wales south coast, and they are different in every issue. The back of each card has a short caption and room to write.

We choose the photographs, so you cannot request particular images. We do not publish an issue’s full set of photographs before it is posted, though we may show one card from it beforehand.

Prices

Monthly

$22 within Australia, $25 to New Zealand, $27 anywhere else. Charged every month until you cancel.

A year, paid up front

$242 within Australia, $275 to New Zealand, $297 anywhere else. Twelve issues for the price of eleven. Charged once a year.

A gift of three issues

$66 within Australia, $75 to New Zealand, $81 anywhere else. Charged once. It ends after the third issue.

Prices are set in Australian dollars and include postage. If you shop from outside Australia, the store shows and charges you the equivalent in your local currency at the exchange rate on the day. Nothing is added at checkout. We are not registered for GST, so no GST is charged.

We may change our prices. If a change affects your subscription, we will email you at least 30 days before your first payment at the new price, and you can cancel before then.

Renewal

• Monthly renews automatically every month, on the date you joined, until you cancel.
• Yearly renews automatically every twelve months, at the yearly price at that time. We will email you before it renews.
• A gift does not renew. It ends after the third issue and no further payment is taken.

When issues are posted

We post in the first few days of each month. Subscribe by the last day of a month to receive the next month’s issue. If you subscribe after that, you start with the issue after.

Issues go by ordinary letter post. Delivery times depend on Australia Post, and overseas delivery takes longer. We cannot promise a delivery date.

Pausing and cancelling

You can pause or cancel your subscription from your account at any time. When you cancel, no further payments are taken, and any issue you have already paid for is still posted. If you cancel a yearly subscription, the rest of the issues you paid for are still posted.

Changing your address

Change your address in your account. A change made by the last day of the month applies to the next issue.

If an envelope is returned to us, we will email you and hold the issue until you give us a working address, then post it again at no charge. If we cannot reach you for two issues in a row, we will pause your subscription and stop charging you until you contact us.

If an issue is lost or damaged

If an issue does not arrive, or arrives damaged, tell us and we will send a replacement.

Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law

Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and to compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if they fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

For a major failure, you choose whether you get a refund or a replacement.

Changing your mind

Australian law does not give a general right to a refund for change of mind on things bought online. If you cancel before your first issue is posted, email us and we will refund your first payment in full. After that, cancelling stops future payments.

Gifts

The buyer gives us the recipient’s name and address. We use them only to post the gift. The third issue includes a note that it is the last one. The rights in these terms belong to the buyer, and if an issue goes missing we will send the replacement to the recipient.

Copyright

The photographs are the copyright of the photographer and are used by Coast Cards under licence. The letters and the design of the cards are the copyright of Victoria Gutierrez.

Buying an issue gives you the cards, not the right to reproduce them. You can keep, display, write on and post your cards, and share photos of them online. You cannot reproduce the images commercially, sell prints or copies of them, or use them in advertising.

Our liability

Apart from your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, which these terms do not limit, our liability for anything that goes wrong with an issue is limited to replacing it or refunding what you paid for it.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The version on this page applies to payments made after it is published. If a change affects your subscription, we will email you before it applies.

Disputes

Contact us first at hello@coastcards.com.au. If we cannot resolve it, you can contact the consumer protection agency in your state or territory, or the ACCC at accc.gov.au. These terms are governed by the law of New South Wales, Australia.
